The authoritative record of who holds an instrument and what they are entitled to. Tokenizing an instrument distributes this record; it does not remove the issuer’s obligation to be able to produce it.
Common causes
A register that diverges from the transfer agent’s books, with no stated rule for which one governs.
What good looks like
A daily reconciliation against the agent, a stated authority rule, and an export the agent can consume without transformation.
