Trust routing
The trust-layer discipline of routing an introduction along consented relationships, where every hop’s owner must agree and there is no partial yes. It matters because a declined introduction renders to the requester identically to a path that never existed, so a refusal leaks nothing about who declined or that a relationship exists.
Common causes
Any code path that let a requester tell a decline from an absence would teach everyone never to decline; the two are held to deep equality by a test so no such path exists.
What good looks like
Every request lands proposed, no consented hop is constructed directly, standing is derived from what others assert, and a stale or hearsay-only edge contributes only at the estimated register.
