Enterprise
What does launching a fan token or membership system cost, and what capacity does fixture day require?
The system’s peak load is known to the minute. Everything else follows from that.
The answer
Budget the engineering as normal, then budget separately for what makes this sector different from most: the load is not average traffic, it is gate-opening load on a known date, and the rehearsal for that window — not the everyday capacity — is the line clubs and leagues most often underscope.
The question that sets the whole budget
What is the fixture, and what happens if the system is degraded during it? That answer sets the capacity target, the rehearsal schedule, and the go/no-go criteria — and it is a sports-operations question as much as an engineering one, which is why it is easy to miss in a purely technical scoping conversation.
A rollback that does not require a public statement
A launch degraded in front of a stadium of fans is a reputational event before it is a technical one. The rehearsal that matters most is the one where the team practices degrading gracefully — read-only mode, a queued purchase flow — rather than the one where everything is assumed to work.
